A clearly formatted book designed to teach children how to read Hebrew in a systematic fashion. The book begins the nekuda kamatz and works its way through the rest of the nekudos while slowly increasing the amount of letters which appear in a word. This book can be used as the basis of your kriyah curriculum or sheets can be used for supplementary review. These Sequential Kriyah / Nekudos Review Games form a comprehensive curriculum of 21 games that review the nekudos in an incremental fashion. The games begin with kamatz, followed by patach, and then a combination of kamatz and patach etc. The games review the nekudos kamatz, patach, tzerei, segel, chirik, kubbutz, shuruk, cholom malei and cholom chaser, and sh’va. The games include instructions and the actual practice words. Your students will have so much fun learning kriyah, they will beg for more!
Who knew reading could be such fun? Your students will eagerly await their turn to read with these dramatic kriya activity cards! The cards instruct the student to read the word in a little baby voice, a strong lion voice, a slow turtle voice, and more. Some of the cards instruct the student to perform an action while reading the word, such as jump like a frog, clap your hands, and spin like a draidle. A template with blank cards is also included to enable the teacher to fill in other actions for student to perform. Connect their kriya to theYom Tov or Parsha you are currently learning. For example, during Pesach season, instruct the students to read while “throwing their chametz into a fire” or “breaking their middle matzah”.
Improve students’ Kriyah fluency and accuracy with this homework program for reading review! The program is designed to be used over the course of the entire school year. It features a new reading skill each week for the first 28 weeks of the program after which previously covered skills are reviewed. Additionally, one week each month is devoted exclusively to reading fluency. A detailed letter to parents explaining the program and instructing them how to fill out the homework chart is included. Photographs of a child’s mouth illustrating the movement made to produce each nekuda and syllable’s sound. These sheets are particularly useful for visual and kinesthetic learners as they allow children to actually see and feel the “sound” of the letter/nekuda. Use them to improve reading efficiency and to train the mouth for clearer reading. The sheets can be used exclusively to teach reading to children who need remedial help or they can be used in the mainstream classroom to enhance a Kriya curriculum. The general rule of the Sheva is that it doesn’t make a sound. It is sleeping, unless it is woken up. “Sheva Nuch” – Sleeping Sheva: doesn’t make a sound. “Sheva Na” – Awake Sheva: sounds like I, BI (as in big), etc.
